Sorry it's long but please read
Maisy went for her spay on wednesday, was back at the vets thursday morning as she wouldn't eat/poo. We were given Metacam once daily, Zantac twice daily, fibreplex and maxolon three times daily along with syringe feeding every 2 hours. She started to pick up and poo but was still only eating hay and dandilion leaves.
Went back to the vets friday night and she was whisked away there and then for another op as the muscle where she has been spayed had torn/broke away. The wound is twice as big now because the fatty tissue had also broke. This meant all her gut was coming through, it was a hernia. We took her home about an hour after she came around as the vet said we know what we are doing and thought she would be calmer at home with us. She started to drink water and poo as soon as we got her home but carried on with all the meds.
We went back to the vets saturday morning for a top up of the drugs. We as still giving her everything as mentioned above except for the maxolon.
She is eating a decent amount of hay and nibbling on spring greens and dandilions, but has ate no nuggets at all.
How long will this syringe feeding every two hours go on for? Will she ever eat again herself? We are back at the vets monday evening but me and my boyfriend have got to go to work tomorrow.
Thank you.
