Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Vets with Whitney this morning

Mama Doe
She’s been weeing all over our spare room carpet for the past few days. At first I thought it was the change of space that had triggered her as she took a while to litter train when we got her last year, and she does still have the occasional accident. However I managed to catch her yesterday. She’s so nervous, that I don’t often pick her up. She looks quite bald underneath so I’m thinking perhaps a urine infection.
I hope it’s something simple anyway :(
Wish us luck!

No indication of urine infection but vet wondered if she had actually been spayed like the rescue told me she had!!

I’d be surprised if a bond between 2 girls had stayed intact if either or both weren’t spayed. Possibly time of year as Tonibun says, spring fever with the bonding and mounting from Phillip and new spaces will have encouraged territorial marking.

Ok the rescue have just confirmed she was neutered under their care so that alleviates that panic!

I think you’re all right it could possibly be the bonding and spring time that has put her out of whack. I’m just very conscious that she’s showing similar symptoms to Snowy who suffered from chronic UTIs when she was alive. Just have to keep an eye on her I guess!

Did the Vet mention anything about the possibility of EC ? This can sometimes present as urinary incontinence.

He didn't mention that. I did treat them with a course of Panacur when we first brought them to our house. I will keep an eye on how she is for the next few days and then if no better, will give them another call.

Sending loads of vibes for gorgeous Whitney.
One thought - is her skin ok underneath? No sign of urine scald I hope?

Thanks everyone, well since our emergency vet visit she has only been once on the floor! Currently in the litter tray as I write. So perhaps it is territorial/behavioural and hopefully she will continue to improve :)

Craig - the vet said she didn’t have urine scald thankfully. I think her slight baldness is just how she is
