  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Very sick bunny

Unfortunately Roary didn’t make it, the vet tried to get him onto a drip but his heart stopped. One very sad bun mum right now, he’s been my little fur baby for 8.5 years 💔

I'm so very sorry to read this update  Sending loads of hugs to you. It's truly heartbreaking how some bunnies go downhill so very fast

I am so so sorry to read this. You tried everything and gave Roary every fighting chance and he had the most wonderful eight and a half years of love and comfort in a place he called home. Binkey free beautiful Roary. xx

I’m so very sorry:cry: you did everything you could for him. Thinking of you and sending hugs xx

Binky free Roary xx

Thank you all for your kind words, this forum has been invaluable to me over the years and I appreciate all the kindness and support.

I can’t believe how quickly it all happened. We have had a few blips over the years but this literally happened in less than 2 days. Yesterday morning he was binkying over my sofa and seemed normal!

One of mine was exactly the same. Rushed her straight to the vets and she was fine when we got there.
I could see her stomach bubbling at home.

I'm so sorry you lost Roary. It must be an awful shock but I hope in time happier memories of him will be a comfort. x

I'm so sorry for your tragic loss
Please be kind to yourself. You did everything you could. (((((((((Huge hugs)))))))
Binky free, Roary xxxx

I’m struggling with that! Keep thinking i should have spotted the signs earlier or taken him to the vet sooner. Maybe there’s nothing I could have done anyway, just wish I had more time to try!

When we lose a Bunny I think we all beat ourselves up with the endless 'what ifs'. But I honestly dont think you could possibly have done any more for Roary. I hope in time you will be able to think of him and remember the happy years you had with him, you wont only remember the awful pain of losing him x

Thanks JacksJane, he was my first pet as an adult, had pets as a child but never fully responsible for them. Got Roary when he was 3 months old and I think that’s why it’s so hard. I know it will get easier, just hate to think there might have been more I could have done.
