Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Urin burns

akaemzybabe

Young Bun
Just had a look at my poorly girl shes looking a little sore where her black legs join her tummy and I can only think this is down to urin burns despite my daily washing and drying :(

Her immune system is quite weak but can I put either sudocrem or vet salve on these without causing any problems to a weak bunny?

I dont have anyone to help me trim her, I did take some of the worst off at the weekend but I will take her to a good vets this week

It is perfectly safe and ok to use sudacrem and my vet confirmed this, but did say that vaseline is better because it is waterproof. You must use something because their skin is so paper thin and it could tear if it gets too dry and be so sore for your bun, and then you have the risk of infection as well.

Thanks Rodger

I put some vet salve on her this morning its Vaseline like but with a strong antibiotic smell and tonight weve had a wash blow dry and sudocrem
