  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Update On Smudge

Young Bun
just got back from the vets he is doing very well. They even gave him his 2nd injection as he was running around and was happy.

One thing Im not too sure on is I have been told to feed him more by one vet and to feed him less by another - not sure what to do.

Also there was a lovely rabbit who came out just before we went in.

Glad to hear Smudge is doing well :)
He should be having a diet based mainly on a variety of hays and grass. Is he a baby? If so and he has not yet been fed Veg you could introduce a small portion (one variety at a time) from the age of 3 months. If he was fed Veg whilst still with his Mum he can continue to have them even if he's not yet 3 months old.
Pellets form a very small part of a Buns diet and they should fill up on lots of hay

This is a useful book about a good diet for Buns
