Tortoiseshell/Harlequin...

See how the 'extremeties' (ears/legs/tail/nose and a bit of flank) are shaded?

With Harlequins, they can look very different depending on the balance of black/blue/lilac/chocolate and orange/fawn. Here are two black harlequins...

I think I've been getting confused because the rabbits I've seen lately being discribed as 'tortoiseshell' have actually been harlequins. I was thinking tortoiseshell might be this sort of colour -

Sort of the same as harlequin but in spots rather than patches. If that makes sense. I guess that colour is actually 'tri coloured'?

Obviously tortoiseshell in rabbits is much different to tortoiseshell in cats.

Is earl the bun in your sig? He's a tri colour, or broken harlequin
