  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Does the giant poo look like 2 poos stuck together? Fia has done a few of these and its because she is moulting quite a bit and is making them stick togther. Is it possible it's that?

Is it sticky and smelly? It could be his caecatrophs, which he isn't eating as he normally would. Possibly because he has a mouth problem brewing, or maybe the timing of their production has got a bit out of sync where his guts have slowed down a bit. Good news that he has munched on a bit of hay - if he doesn't continue to pick up, I would get him to a vet later today so please do keep a very close eye on him.

Even if he is fine by later, I would still pop him to the vet for a check up, as problems with not eating are usually secondary to something else - often something dental. Hopefully as it's the first time it's happened, if there is something going on in his mouth, it should be relatively minor and easily solved. Fingers crossed xxx
