  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Omnimatrix for sore hocks?

Orenoko

Mama Doe
I took Lilac to the vet today as she has conjunctivitis. Decided to ask about her hocks as she's always had little red marks but I noticed recently she was bothered by one. The vet said they look okay and definitely not infected (and I've also seen images of sore hock progression so I'm not too concerned). She gave me something called omnimatrix, never heard of it before and tried googling for sore hock use but nothing came up. It's non-steroidal and natural apparently. Just wondered has anyone heard of it?

Never used it myself but it’s similar to Sudocrem which also has Zinc Oxide as an active ingredient. I would give it a go, just make sure Bunny doesn’t lick too much of it off

Thanks both, she doesn't seem fussed by it although the vet said to keep her in her carry box for 10 minutes so that she doesn't just run around and deposit it all on the carpet. She certainly voices her displeasure once she's let out of her prison!
