Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Not drinking water.

Hi there,
I've posted this before but maybe in the wrong section. My bunny doesn't appear to be drinking much water if any at all. In every other way he is fine eating his hay and veg and seems active enough, he normally gets through loads of water...should I be worried(I already am!)

Well they certainly need to drink water although it will likely be a reduced amount during the colder weather. If you use a bowl for the water I can suggest something I do. Each time I change the water I use a measuring jug which I fill to a set amount. When I am going to replace the water I simply pour the remains back into the jug and subtract that amount from the original amount.

I do this twice a day so that I know the overnight and day amounts separately.

Thank you Lobo, Obe has his water through a bottle so I've been marking where I fill it to. I've had him in this morning and also took him outside for a play and he seems perfectly well apart from being cheesed off at being out in the rain. I've given him fresh water again this morning and will monitor it throughout the day. thanks again Helen x

Do you feed a lot of veggies with a high water content? Sometimes this can attribute as they get sufficient water from the veg and don't need to drink as much. My buns also drink less in the winter.
