  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

my rabbit leg

how big do i need it she is an old english rabbit :)

she looks like a cross breed to me so I couldnt give you exact measurements.

Big enough for her to lie down in, but not so big that she is falling about in it. As said earlier make sure you pad it out with towels. She'd probably appreciate some hay in there too.

Going to bed now, I hope it goes well at the vets, will look on here for an update when I wake up! Good luck! xx

Can you take her now? Vets normally start to open at this time :)

It's important to do whatever is best for her, not for you. That said, I had an 11 year old who broke his leg and he recovered from that fine. Wait and see what the vet says and then make whatever decision is best for her.

Oh I'm so sorry she had to be put down :( at least you know she is not in pain anymore. You did the right thing for her.

There is a section of the forum called Rainbow Bridge, where some members find it helps to post a memorial about their rabbits who have died. Sometimes it can make you feel better to share their story and pictures.
