Mousey Update

I took OH in to the app to get a second opinion of her (he was directed not to speak ). She seemed really genuine & was kind to the bunnies & handled them well. She has worked with Frances on a similar case to Mouse & wanted to read up on those notes & do some research about Stronghold ;) ? Jury is still out BB. I like that she has 2 rabbits herself. Says her fave patients are cats & rabbits.

Even that sounds good - if they don't know they get specialist advice, far better than the bumble along on their own vets.

I'm glad Mouse behaved herself with the vet  I've no experience personally of using sulfatrim but hopefully if Mouse does have an infection that will help to sort it.

Aye, she doesn't profess to be a bunny expert & she was very personable. A vet who knows their limitations & refers on appropriately is fine by me

All your kind vibes must have worked. I daren't give it her yet :) Hopefully if it infection it is caught early - well done Boo on alerting us to the problem by making her ears baldy - if it was Boo that did that

i hope mouse is ok. mine have all started with slightly wet noses but no sneezes yet, but they did all have snuffles last year and the echinacea in their water helped so im starting that again today. I dont know whether its the weather or anything.

Mouse is doing snotty sneezes 5 days in to her antibiotic course - why?

Could be that the abx are dealing with a bacterial infection (the ear and the URT are intrinsically linked via the eustachian tubes) and the increased nasal secretions are the bodies normal way of ridding the URT of all the gunk that infection causes. Better out than in, so-to-speak.

Antibiotics do not 'detox' the body by producing snot. Producing infection is not what they do, providing they are targeted properly.

I should consult your vet and asses their treatment goals :D

Thanks all for your input & well wishes. I think she is improving. Boo is less manic with the grooming, there has been no more hair loss & we think there are some signs of it growing back. She didn't appear at all snotty yesterday. I slept in this morning so I've not had much time to assess her today.

Meanwhile & not really on the subject Mouse has started to groom Boo regularly  Mouse has always been tight with her kisses up til now. It looks really funny as she must be quite forceful & little Boo's head bobs up & down as she does it.

Rabbits eh? This time last year Mouse was having fur pulled regularly cos Boo didn't love her enough & now her fur is diminishing as she is being groomed too much.

The power of synchronicity - I just replied to your PM and asked how Mouse was at the exact same time you posted this update!

Glad to hear the news :D

Great news especially the bond they have.

I forgot to update that I purposefully watched Ruth with the burritos yesterday and she has a few inches of towel in front of the sticking out feet and quickly wraps the towel over their feet then does the sideways wrap really quickly afterwards. She wrapped all three of them with no resistance at all. ...I think she properly fell for Scally (first time she has met him).

its a brill technique. I can do joey easy but no chance with the girls. When Joey missed his garden curfew again I was tempted to burrito him & leave him in various places around the garden (joke)

Of course Ruth loved Scally

My usual vet doesn't put them in BB's but I took them all for a check up recently with a very good rabbit specialist who was coming into town and she BB'd them. I think it's great, they all seemed calm and controlled, even Charlotte who can be a nightmare at the vets. She just sat and whinged for the whole time instead which the vet found hilarious

We should maybe use it as another guide to vet savvyness:lol: they do seem so relaxed in their burritos. I can imagine if your technique was off (like mine) it might stress them out more. Whingey Charlotte

My vet just gets me to hold our buns firmly. When it came to a dental check, they'd get a nurse in to help with holding.

Mouse was back at the vets for her check up this morning:love:. It was agreed her baldy ears are no worse & there are signs of hair regrowth. Inside her ear was much better, apparently it looks normal for a non uppy earred bun so we have stopped the antibiotics. Mouse will be pleased.

Good news :D

I am so pleased for Mouse's ears and the resultant stopping of the abx :D

Also pleased to see that Mouse and Boo are loving friends now. It's so nice to have happy, loving rabbits, for us and for them.
