  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Molly's cut her nose

Whilst I was doing their hutch, they were in the carrier. They started fighting and now Molly has a cut nose that is bleeding. What shall I do? I think it's because they were in a tight space and they are females afterall. Should I take her to the vet now, see how it is later or leave it? They are now happily eating in their hutch together.

It has now scabbed over and it's right underneath her nose, where the two nostrils meet. She seems very happy within herself. Milly is fine too. Is there anything I should look for over the next few hours and will she be ok? What about their fighting? Will it become a regular occurance?

Awww I'm sure it'll be OK - just keep an eye on it and make sure it's not weeping or swollen :) As for them fighting I don't know - I would put them in the run when I clean their hutch, even if the weather's bad - you can peg some plastic on the top if it's temporary maybe?

Here's a blurry piccie of her scabbed nose:
