  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

JJ appears to be making a slow but steady recovery. he is not 100% yet, but much better than he was. I suppose all we can do is continue to treat symptomatically, I know a time will come when we cant turn things around.

Awww...hello little man. You look like you're feeling a bit better! 🥰🥰🥰

He wouldn't thrive without your care, Jane. I'm 100% positive. You're so tuned in to all your animal family, and they to you. 🥰🥰🥰

Continued vibes that J.J. goes from strength to strength. And gentle hugs for you, you must be exhausted. I hope you can get some rest soon. ❤️ xxxxx

Well done! JJ is very lucky he has you to quickly intervene with appropriate care when your keen eye notices something is wrong.
He looks so healthy it is a huge turn around from you finding him collapsed.
Sending your handsome little man lots of positive vibes that he remains well for a long time.

Thank you 😀

I just follow the advice of my lovely friend/Vet. I am extremely lucky to have her help on hand. If I didn’t I would not be able to keep Rabbits now as I can’t get the surgery any more. My friend lives 5 minutes from me and will come over whenever needed in an emergency. If the Rabbit were to need admission she takes them to the surgery and she has also said she would take them to The Beaumont if an Exotics Specialist referral was ever needed. She delivers all my vet meds, does home vaccinations and PTSs (😢💔). She’s one in a million ❤️

Here we go again 😫😫😢

JJ in gut stasis, on all relevant meds and fluids. Currently no input, no output, no gut sounds, very gassy, BG 13

Plus for the last few weeks we have been battling bladder sludge with Dara and now she has a UTI/cystitis ☹️ So she’s on abx as well as her other treatments

Roisin has another Snuffles flare up ☹️ She is being nebulised as I type this post

I am exhausted, in 🤬agony and still having blinding headaches from the SFL

Drowning 😢😢

Vibes please ☹️

Oh Jane...I'm so sorry you're having to battle on so many fronts. 😥

All the best vibes, prayers and hugs coming to you and the bunnies that everything will turn right again soon. xxxxx

OMG. There are no words! I feel so sad 😭 you are dealing with so much and all I can offer you are my hopes that JJ, Dara, and Roisin will soon be on the mend so you can get the rest you need for your SFL to mend. The bunnies are so fortunate to have such an astute and knowledgeable person who sacrifices her own comfort to give them living care.
Sending lots of gentle hugs and love.
