I have been taking Buster to our local vet (5 minutes drive away) for the past few months. It is only now he's been referred to an exotics specialist I realise just how good they are. Only thing is they are a 30 minute drive away. However, after a very thorough examination and an array of tests done quickly and competently, I want to take my buns there if any future problems arise. The new vet has finally taken my concerns about EC seriously and has noticed things about Buster's teeth and eyes that my original vet didn't even mention. They even took my very highly strung boy's blood without an anaesthetic.
Would you go to the specialist in future or your closer vet? I'm pretty upset that if it wasn't for my own personal research and the help of this website, Buster wouldn't have had Panacur in December and he may have developed all sorts of neurological problems or even died by now. He's already got the beginnings of cataract formation now, aged 10 months. I personally don't think a 30 minute drive is long for the sake of getting an expert opinion. Obviously this particular issue will be managed by the specialist, but if Thumper were to become ill, I think I'd want him to go there. What would you do?x
