Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Fostering few day old baby, need help with feeding and weeing

So, yesterday morning my cat brought in a baby rabbit. From the look of him, he is maybe 7 days old - he has fur but eyes are still closed and ears are not up. He had no visible injuries.
To cut a long story short, I made some phonecalls and got some great advice from vets and recue centres but ultimately no one offered to take the poor little guy off our hands so we are doing our best to raise him. He's made it 24 hours now and seems well.
He is being kept warm and handled little. We have been feeding him kitten milk and cleaning him up after feeds to prevent sores. He has had a few poos, both during feeding and at other times, which we have cleaned up straight away.
Any advice/experience welcome!
Also I have two specific questions:
Firstly, I'm not sure he is taking enough milk. Got kitten milk yesterday afternoon and fed him every 4hours or so. I know this is more often than recommend but at each feed he only takes about 1.5 mls, so very little. He doesn't get a round "milk-tummy" at all. When I start the feed he drinks happily and I continue until he seems no longer interested. Should I worry yet about the amount he takes or just continue for now?
Also, and possibly relatedI'm not sure if he has peed yet. Last night during a feed my hand got a bit damp so it might have been wee or possibly just a bit of milk I didn't notice spilling (he was very wriggly). I have tried the massage/stimulation with a cotton bud and also a damp piece of cotton wool but have had no result after a few minutes. As he seems to be pooing at other times, either when in his box or during feeding, should I worry? Do I need to continue trying to stimulate (I'm worried about him getting sore) or should I just assume that as his bowels seem to be working ok he is probably weeing too? Or he might just be dehydrated, I'm just not sure.
He seems to be more active and lively this morning compared to yesterday I'mat least that's something I guess!
Any tips or advice much welcomed.

Thanks Tinsel!
The advice on the link you gave me is helpful, thank you. Hopefully someone will come along shortly with some specific feeding/weeing advice :)

For some reason my phone won't let me post links, but if you search 'Tracy' and find her thread about Cookie the wildie, that may be helpful as she was in a similar situation to you. Sorry I can't post a link - no idea why my phone won't let me!

I recognised the thread from Mumsnet (not a member but was on for another reason) and thought you'd get good advice on here, so it's good to see you've posted! Welcome to RU, by the way!

Hiya, I'm in North Wales.
Can report that baby rabbit has just had a huge wee on me whilst feeding, so I'm not so worried now about the stimulation. Hooray :)

Sorry I can't offer any advice but wanted to send vibes for bunny, well done for helping :thumb:
