Sorry for the rant but need to get it off my chest.
Having just lost one rabbit and discovered another may have a different long term illness I have discovered how weird I appear to others in how I deal with these things.
How most people think I'm nuts to keep a rabbit alive, give medicine twice daily and regular dentals, and pay hundreds of pounds (over the last 2 years) to give him the best life possible when I could save myself all this by just putting him down:evil:,. And when I grieve for him when he's gone, get upset, mark the fact that he lived, I'm being dramatic because he's only a rabbit. A cat ot dog people would understand . . .but not a rabbit. And having gone through all this and tell people about the other sick rabbit knowing how upset I have been they still say well can't you PTS:evil: and look on with sympathy to the poor mad rabbit woman about to do it all again.
Even some vets, and other rabbit owners who would not have have made the decisions I have made, even about the most minor of things.
I am now very fortunate to have a fab vet who specialises in and values rabbits, and who fights the same battle by the sounds of it even with those who profess to have the needs of all pets at heart.
Even OH doesn't really understand although he does try.
Thanks goodness for RU.
I am by no means perfect in my rabbit care and am learning all the time, but it is heartening to know there are also others out there who do their best for the animals in their care even if they are "only Rabbits"!!!!
