crystal has slits in her ears!! :'(

I know! i really want her spayed and whilst she's under get the ring removed! I'm going to be checking her up and taking piccies, because she comes in for jumping training anywayz thanks x i will tell my mum!

I wouldnt advise you to be training her to jump while she has a sore leg, could be painfull and make it worse.

my mum says: if she needs to be spayed because of aggresiveness then she would do it, but there's no reason to spay a perfectly fit animal, you don't spay us! you only spay if you don't want your pet having babies. it's not natural to have bits cut off a girl anyway!

the vet (the good one) said there is no pain in there, besides she's always jumping about!

yes, but putting more strain on it could cause it to get worse also having an abnomal leg could affect the weight distribution on other parts of her body.

Agreed! :(

I suppose it's you and your mums choice if you want your girl dying of cancer or not :?:(

Maybe try a different vet, tell them you've seen the ring and you know its causing problems and they should remove it for you?

What does your mum think when it comes to people who have the gene for breast cancer, getting mastectomies as a preventative? Does she think that is sensible or does she think the person should wait and only have treatment if they develop the cancer?

That's a genuine question, but the theory behind it is the same with rabbits and uterine cancer, because they all carry the genes which makes them at risk of cancer.

Its not natural for a rabbit to wear a metal ring on its leg or be trained to jump, or to be put in a show.
Somtimes things have to be done to protect our pets, vaccinations and spaying will keep your bunny happy and healthier for a lot longer:D

I think this is a little rude, the OP has said she wants her bun spayed (the other is which is great) but at the end of the day it's not that easy as a teenager who is at their parents mercy.

OP, I suggest you get together some welfare leaflets and show your mum so that she might understand how important it is. You could also try doing odd jobs in the street and collecting some money. Maybe even make some things and sell them on here to raise money for her spay. That would show your mum how serious you are about it.

I would avoid encouraging bunny to jump until the ring is off and you're sure she's not in pain. It would be awful to find out that it's making her worse and I'm sure you wouldn't want that to be the case.

how did this get to spaying, when i was talking about her ears???!!!! i'm not using my account anymore:cry::cry::evil::evil: i'm only a teenager i can't do anthing against my parents!!!! bye

I hate to say it but it's just the way the forum goes sometimes. Everyone is only trying to look out for the buns best interest and you're obviously here because you care about your rabbit and want to do the best you can by her.
I think it just started because if she went under anaesthetic to take the ring off they could spay at the same time which would be beneficial to her health.

It's not easy as a teenagers when your parents are the ones that pay for the animals, drive you to the vet, etc and I think sometimes people forget that as it's been so long since they were in that position.
There are a few other teenage members of the forum, if you hang around you may be able to chat with them and I'm sure they'll understand where you're coming from.

The forum can be a great place, full of knowledge and help when you need it as well as just a friendly place to chat. It's just tricky sometimes to get the balance right between offering advice and appearing to be judging harshly.

I hope if you have any problems in the future or just want to have a chat about your buns (or post some photos, everyone always loves photos!!) then you'll feel you can post again. It's not all bad!

Sorry I have had a really bad day,I take that back! I just know that if I was allowed more bunnies I'd do the very best for them :(

Are you expecting your parents to pay for the spay? If you are. offer to pay for it yourself,if you can't afford it at the moment start saving! I payed for my bunnies spay all myself so my parents were fine with it :)

Please don't leave the forum! We all just want you to do your best! :)

I'm not sure why you would leave the forum because everyone cares about your bunnies. We have tried to suggest things to help their and your life improve. You may not be in a position to take on board the advice, but people have given it because they care about your rabbits. There's not anything wrong with that. The only comment that could have been perceived rude has been taken back and you've got an apology for it.

If you do leave then good luck with your bunnies. Remember you can come back anytime.

Even if you do not spay your rabbit please have that ring taken off! It seems awfully odd that the leg with the very tight ring on it is the only one deformed. It may have to be taken off under anesthetic.

Going to another vet who is a rabbit specialist (because normal vets dont learn much about rabbits as they classed as 'exotic', silly I know) will help to confirm the cause of the deformed foot.

Dont leave, if you can stay maybe we can sort out the mystery of her foot and ears

Well it's not that tight …

it shouldnt be tight at all, you should be able to easily twist it round the leg. If its causing her leg problems then it is too tight.
I very much doubt that she was born with the deformed leg a breeder would not put a ring on a deformed leg as for one, it could cause more problems for it, and for 2 you wouldnt be able to show the rabbit anyway.

I'm sure I have already said I don't show her!? And it could be something entirely different, it might be nothing to with the ring, but I don't know .…

veejay didn't mention anything about you, she was looking at the initial reasons the ring would have been put on.

Can you easily turn the ring?
