Can anyone recommend a pet safe wood coat for a hutch?

I need to coat my hutch outside - to protect it from the rain etc, but want to use the safest wood protector on the outside of the hutch.

Thanks

If the wood has had no preserver on it at all, you should use a preserver first :) Cuprinol was recommended to me. Stinks, takes forever to 'dry' (as it's supposed to suffuse the wood all through!) but will add years to it, and can be painted over after a week or so, IIRC.

I love cuprinol garden shades too. I use it for inside my hutch and all the accessories as I can paint them all quirky different colours!
