I am dreading it
They have now been living side by side for 3 weeks in the lounge, so they are used to each others' presence. Olly has even stopped sleeping in his house and started sleeping next to the mesh where Molly sits i think this is a good sign... :?
This weekend is the only chance i have to bond them for quite a while, it is the only time i can get off work, so please don't have a go, saying it's too soon! Molly was spayed 5 weeks ago; I know ideally i should wait longer, but like i said, it's now or a long way off.
I have thoroughly neutralised Olly's room and set up an NIC pen, 3x2 panels. I am so worried about the whole thing. Molly goes mental if caged for too long, after spending her whole life in a tiny hutch, and Olly isn't great due to his head tilt. I am going to put in loads of hay, a water bowl and bottle, and just see how it goes.
I have had advice about slower bonding methods, ie. swapping them between each other's pens daily etc, but that would really unsettle Olly - he needs familiarity, the last thing I want to do is unnerve him. So i think this is the only way. I am going to start after their 'active' time in the morning, so hopefully they will be relatively tired. I am so worried Molly will attack him.. If Olly just submits straight away it will be fine, but i think he might want to hump her, knowing my Olly
Please think of us and send happy bonding vibes!!!
