  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Bald spots and dry skin

Emzears

New Kit
Sheldon (my giant bunny) has always been a bit scabby between his shoulder blades, vet just said a bit of Vaseline to keep it moist and that's all fine (although he looks greasy), he then got a big red puffy sore on his heel, and antibiotics fixed that.
But now we have a big sore that Sheldon has chewed on his leg, we put a bandage over it for a few days so now it's a big scab, and while takin the bandage off I noticed some bald spots on his feet, bit pink but not bloody.
He is very happy in himself , and is hopping around normally.
I just don't really know what to do without having to keep trekking him to the vet and back.
Any help/ advice appreciated

He really does need to be examined by a Vet again. There are several possible causes of the symptoms you describe but it is impossible to accurately diagnose the problem over the internet. He may have a bacterial infection or a parasitic one. So I am afraid it is necessary to consult your Vet again. Good luck
