  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Apricot sneezing

Been sneezing on and off, but now it's worse and there's green staining around her nose :( I feel like I've neglected her :( I noticed like Thursday she sneezed a couple times and I checked for hay up there, but she was just really sneezing when I got home :( vet could only see us Wednesday, and it's not William, but it's an exotic vet working with him

Guessing it'll just be baytril or something? Hope she'll be okay :(

Awww, Roisin has chronic Snuffles, I hope that won’t be the case for Apricot. I have found Co- Trimoxazole to be more effective than Baytril for URTIs. Nebulising too.

Nebulising, what one do you have/recommend? As I don't have one. Is that something you do a couple times a day as well as the abx?

I'll mention that abx thanks

I have this one

I usually do the nebulising 2-3 times a day. It can be done using sterile saline and/or antibiotics. Bisolvon can be useful too, it thins out the mucus making it easier to drain.

Ah brilliant thanks, I'll get that one my BP cuff is that brand I think.! Where do you get your sterile saline from?

Thanks everyone x

She's on sulfatrim for two weeks and loxicom for a few days/to a week as she had a bit of an accident in the car when I had to break suddenly, she's okay I think but just in case! Poor girl :( vet thinks infection is mild tho which is positive

I'm glad the vet thinks the infection is mild, at least. I hope the Sulfatrim will help her, and that the Loxicom will keep her from hurting if she hurt anything when you had to break suddenly. Sending Apricot lots of vibes.

Sorry to hear Apricot has been unwell. Hope she is feeling better now.
