Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Threading a Needle

Threading a needle is compulsory before starting any project, which might be a challenge for many kids. However, we’ll tell you an easy method through which you can make this task a breeze for them. First of all, twist your thread around the needle and pinch one end to create a loop. Then stick the looped part into the needle eye, pull it out, and you’re ready to start sewing.

Now that your kids have learned how to thread a needle, let us discuss some common stitch settings on the sewing machine you should teach them to successfully accomplish their everyday projects.

Straight Stitch

Straight stitch is the all-rounder as it can be used for plain seams, top-stitching, tucks, darts, etc. Moreover, you can teach kids how to alter its lengths depending on their job requirements. For example, they can use long straight stitches for basting as they are quite easy to sew and remove.

Triple Stretch Stitch

Triple stretch stitch makes two stitches forward and then one back. Kids can use it for stretch fabrics since it creates very strong seams. Besides, this stitch looks very attractive when used as a top stitch.

Zigzag Stitch

This stitch is perfect for sewing knit or stretch fabrics because it is more flexible than a straight stitch. Kids can also use it for topstitching as well as for finishing raw edges.

Elastic Stitch

This is another essential stitch for kids learning to sew, especially if they want to sew stretchy fabrics. It looks similar to a zigzag stitch but has a smaller stitch length.

Blind Hem Stitch

As shown by the stitch name, you cannot see it on the top of the outward-facing fabric. It creates stitches at the back and looks like small dots on the front side. Kids can use it for sewing skirts, dresses, curtains, and many other items. Don’t forget to tell your children that they can use this stitch for only non-stretch fabrics.

Stretch Blind Hem Stitch

It is the same as a blind hem stitch but used for stretch fabrics. So kids can use this stitch option to ensure their stitches don’t break when the fabric stretches.

Buttonhole Stitch

It would not be wrong to say that the buttonhole stitch is one of the most useful stitches on the sewing machine. For kids learning to sew, it is better to use sewing machines that feature automatic buttonhole options.
