  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Advice wanted :)

Yeah the vet said the same thing unfortunately I lost one at around four days, it was so small compared to the rest but I felt absolutely terrible. I wasn’t expecting them but now they are here I’m doing all I can for them.

I will definitely limit what they get when they are introduced and I will definitely post some pictures.

Thanks
When two bunnies with dwarf genes are breed, babies can inherit a dwarf gene from each parent--peanut bunnies cannot survive.
It is possible that is why one died.

You can add the Bene Bac to their milk feeds. I'd not leave the eyes unattended if they are not open by 12 days x

Okay, I will get this probiotic, is it best I get the powder version, I clicked on the link and there is various options for it? No worries, well theres good news is three out of five have now opened their eyes! One last night and two this morning. They are now 12 days old so I will try with the cotton wool and water on their eyes to help them open.

Thank you

Excellent, it sounds as though you are doing all you can to try to help the Kits. I know from first hand experience what an emotional roller-coaster it can be. Losses are frequent despite our very best efforts. So if more losses do occur, which I most certainly hope they wont, dont for one minute think you have failed. Even the 'experts' are unable to save all hand reared Kits x
