  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Haha, don't you be too sure! It's always a tad worrying to be in a carrier in a vets' surgery.

And of course you absolutely do need to be there to support your man

He's awake! So the kidneys look fine and the spine looked ok on the CT scan. The ultrasound was hard to see because Phillip had a lot of gas today, but basically he thinks what is causing the incontinence is to do with the rectum pressing on the bladder or something like that. If that's the case there are medicines we can try, as well as different anti-inflammatories which work on the bladder or some other thing to do with hormones.
John wants to send the results to another specialist to get their opinion, maybe do a another ultrasound at a later date when he has less gas and then we'll go from there! Feels quite positive though :D

Oo glad he's okay :) sounds like there's things you can try which is very positive! I hope you can figure something out for him x

I'm glad to hear your glossy boy did well & there is nothing major to worry about as well as new stuff to try. Well done girls too

Brilliant  There's a positive way forward then with different options to try, none of which sound too invasive. Good also that the results are being sent to a specialist for a second opinion.

I'm glad his kidneys and spine are okay, and that you have some things to try now. I hope something will work for him. Good job getting through all that, Phillip.

I'm really pleased the scan didn't show up anything worrying and that there's a plan of action to get on top of his incontinence which, as Omi says, isn't too invasive.

I trust all three have made their displeasure known since they've been back home!

Really pleased that everything went ok today, and that there are options to try. Well done everybun xx
