If you think you can't manage Trevor and give the care and support she needs then maybe you should think about handing her over to someone willing to give it. You can't give up on her.
I beg your pardon :? Who says I am giving up on her??
Anyway she would go back to rachel if for some reason I couldn't keep her
Juliet seems to think that despite being happy she does not have a quality of life as the chances of her ever regaining the use of her legs is unlikely and risk of flystrike is too high.
Her view is to give her a few more weeks to see if there is an improvement and then we have to make a decision :?
This^^
I do understand Juliets point of view i really do and may have had the same opinion in the past but knowing Trevor and knowing bunnies generally I know she is happy!
This is sad for the wee one. Whilst my Inca is no where near as disabled as AGCT does have decreased mobility of her back end and she is prone to being very wet below. I know what you mean about them peeing the carrier, Inca does that just before the vet looks at her and she looks like a poor wee soul, then I have to tell the vet that she is not always like that!
As AGCT is indoors she will be less likely to get flystrike. Your amazing care will definatley keep her clean and as dry as can be. In the short time that you have had her you definately know her well already, you can clearly see that she is happy.....and I do believe that you have unfortunately dealt with a few unhappy bunnies in your time so you do know when a bun is ready to leave.
I really am hoping for a miracle for this wee bubba x
The other thing that can help with bladder issues in Rabbits with hind leg paralysis is for your Vet to teach you how to manually express the Rabbit's bladder. Not only can this help reduce the risk of infection but it can also help reduce the risk of bladder sludge and subsequent problems with urolithiasis
Hope the Trev has a lot more time yet xx
Sorry it wasn't better news for you all Although have just seen your update on twitter which is a little bit better! A Girl called Trevor is so sweet bless her, she seems so determined in everything!
Thanks everyone. TBH Jane the moment I pick her up she always wees buckets without any help from me and I am always prepared so she stays dry herself She also drinks a huge amount which will certainly help with sludge and infection.
I have been back to speak to Juliet again after having a search online at different options and she has given the go ahead for both professional physio sessions and acupuncture. I am going to arrange them to be done at home so they can see Trevor in her own surroundings an so she doesn't have to go in a carrier and end up covered in wee again. I am going to speak to them both on Monday.
We also discussed specialist referrals but Juliet felt and I do agree that at the moment there is not much they could offer her at the moment as there really doesn't seem to be any treatment for her and even if there was it would involve an MRI plus massive spinal surgery which definitely wouldn;t be in Trevors best interests. But I have found a couple of specialists not to far away as back up if needed.
Have you thought about speaking to Noel Fitzpatrick in Surrey?
I didn't even know it was on twitter, will go and have a look
it's from the 'twitlonger' or whatever it's called
