I applied to be a charity today and am awaiting application response. One thing i did notice when applying is that directors can't earn a salary- is this right?
Thanks xxxxxxx
Who did you apply to? HMRC?
Charities commission.
Yes it is.
How come? Have you got more than £5,000 income already?
BTW do they need accounts in the initial stages? I'm thinking of registering as a small charity (under £5,000), but I previously haven't kept accounts, so I'm just starting to do that.
No i'm just doing it as a predicted income for this year. In excess of £5000 turnover.
Not sure you'd ever make enough to take a salary anyway if you run it in the best interests of the rabbits
income from the rescue you want to run?!

I thought that directors could earn a salary (if there's enough money to enable it and it fits with the overall aims and objectives of the charity) but trustees could not?
In that case- how would a director get paid? I didn't setup a non for profit. Just a charity. Thanks xxxxx
