Brown liquid?

Leigh

Mama Doe
Following on from out litter training post we have been watching duke and have noticed that he has poo'ed a brown liquid. Now he does normal hay poos, although slightly damp (always have been) and also caecotrophs which he eats regularly throughout the day and has done loads this evening. He tried to eat/lick the liquid.

We have introduced spring greens (instead of cabbage) and pepper (its yellow as the supermarket didnt have a green one!) so could it be this? (introduced about a week ago)

This is the second time we have noticed it, first was friday night after his myxi jab.

Anyone have any ideas as he is acting/eating/drinking/weeing/pooing and behaving normally otherwise?

having had chance to have a bit of a search on here now, we think they are liquid c-poops, so we are going to cut down on the veg and see how we go as we have had a think we may be giving a bit more veg than they were on at the rescue centre.

:)

Yes, I would cut the veg right out till the poos solidify again. Lots of fibre will help.

I agree - if you are sure that they are just excess caecotrophs, I'd up his hay and hopefully his poos will solidify soon :thumb: Just out of interest, what pellets does your bunny have? Different kinds of pellets can suit one bun just fine but play havoc with another bun! :D

Hope Duke feels better soon x

Weve had the bunnies for just over two weeks and have been slowly introducing A&P pellets, they get about an egg cupful of A&P and similar russell rabbit at the moment (what they were on at the rescue) As much hay as they can eat during the day (hes not a great hay eater so were trying local and timothy hay at the moment and hes eating more hay now :) ) and veg in the evening when we get home.

We'll cut out the veg tomorrow, we originally thougt it may be the jab but obviously not

Thanks
