Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Ears going bald at the back...???

Dusty is about 80% well after her brush with GI stasis this week. Have just noticed that her ears are balding at the backs. What does this mean?? Please don't tell me it's myxi. :?

Am wondering if the vets did something that meant they had to shave her ears!!

Is she scratching her ears? Sometimes when a Bun has been poorly they get mites.

Or if she was put on an IV drip at the Vets that can make the ears go bald as the canular is put into an ear vein.

She was on an IV drip. Both the ears look equally bald, and in a really even way - not patchy. :? Would the drip have been in both ears??

Haven't noticed any scratching, and no flakes etc.

Sometimes when they change the drip they use t'other ear. I suspect, but obviously cant say for sure, that that is what is causing the fur loss.

Are you sure they are really balding? I only ask because I was looking at mine last week(rabbit's ears not mine  ) and noticed they both looked fairly bare. I mentioned it to my other half and he said they were always like that..I'd never noticed before. She's a castor rex and her ears are quite dark but the back of them looked "downy". When I had a close look at Bournville's ears his were the same..with the hair a lot shorter on the back, and a slightly different texture as well.

They are definitely baldy - got Clover out to check her ears to compare!

She had 2 drips, so I think they switched ears. Poor bun... :(

Two bald ears is better than a dehydrated Bun though :)

It'll grow back though, won't it? Meanwhile you can always knit her a nice wee bobble hat for when she goes out
