  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Jazzy B Bunny

Wise Old Thumper
I found a few drops of what i believe to be blood in Jazz's hutch this morning, i checked him over and i couldent see any cuts or anythingon him, im very worried about him he seems normal but im worried about where the blood came from

Have you checked his feet, I had this problem with mine a while back, Ted had caught his nail on something and had ripped it off! Ouch! He was ok though, it had snapped just above the base, so it wasn't too bad and heeled fine!

Are you sure its blood? Bunnies urine colour can vary greatly and can be very very dark orange, could it perhaps have been urine?

Otherwise, I'd check him over especially hocks and claws, and keep an eye on him and try not to worry unless more appears - we all get cuts and grazes, humans and bunnies a like.

yuh I would be inclined to check the pee to... I thought I saw blood in it a few times,,, but turned out she had been on the pink financial times bit lol!
