  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Iknow its a long shot but in charlton se7 near me a rabbit has been found and is in my care . Hes a dwarf lop mostly orange and white with a splash of black, and hes bin done. val

Could you not try contacting some vets in that area, they might know of a rabbit fitting that description?

The owner might have called the vets to ask if anyone had handed him/her in? Particularly if they thought it might have been injured or something?

doubtful but it may be worth running down the vets val to see if it was microchipped, i dont see the point of microchipping bunnys because i think the have more change of scanning the fox that ate the chipped bunny than finding it stray, but as ou know we do finds strays occasionally so maybe worth it!

Asked the local council today to put a notice up in the park. got a strange reply today  They said people are always dumping rabbits in the park and especialy lop rabbit as they are vicious   . As a breeder of mini lops and dwarf lops i found this to be a very strange and missguided reply, dont you? Ive offered an open invatation to them to come and visit my stud to see my never in a million years nasty rabbits. val

How bizarre. I've always thought lops to be extremely sweet tempered in general! They do have a special kind of bunny attitude I suppose, but only to those who don't understand bunnies!
