Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Sudocrem and Sore Hocks

Nix

Mama Doe
We noticed Rosie had sore hocks over the weekend (little pink patches where her fur had rubbed off and her skin was getting rubbed, awww). I remembered some advice from here or possibly another forum which was to use Sudocrem, which is for nappy rash!!

The reason I'm posting here is tell people that it worked really well! We saw a difference in 24 hours with her sore bits scabbing over and in a couple of days she was back to normal.

Thats good to know! I was just looking at some homeopathic healing cream on a website, good to know that sudo works too!!

Any chemist or supermarket, under the baby section. It's great for tattos too. :D

Daft question i know but do you put anything over the sudacrem so the buns cant get to it or just rub ir in and leave it?

Ive noticed Elvis has started to get sore hocks

Awww Brill Nix - thanks for this - Zac had a slight problem with this some time ago and I used some Tea Tree Cream, I'd also got some Fuchiderm Vet Cream which is brill to but its always bostin to have some extra options - especially as the result seemed to be so quick for you.

Cheers Gal.

I just rubbed it in and didn't cover it. I'm not sure I'd like to do this over a long time as Sudocrem's full of chemicals , although I don't know how well they are able to clean their back "elbows". :?
