  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Has anyone seen marks like this in their rabbit's eye?

Vincent is going to the vets tonight - but has anyone got any idea what this is?

He's completely happy in himself, but as a new rabbit owner I'm always on edge about any potential issue as I know what delicate little creatures they are!

I can't concentrate at work because I'm worrying about him :(

Edited:
I can't get the image uploader to work - but hopefully this link will work?

Vet thinks it's probably some kind on trauma so he's on anti inflammatory treatment for a few days to see if there is any improvement. Can't think how he's hurt himself - nothing springs to mind.
Hopefully he'll heal quickly - otherwise she says it could be a growth :-(

Trying not to panic!

It's a rather odd kind of mark, so maybe consistent with some kind of trauma. I do hope he recovers quickly and puts an end to your worrying.
Try not to worry, it may all clear up soon xx

I hope the treatment clears things up quickly for him. Trauma injuries can occur from something as simple as a strand of hay or straw.

Hope he is ok. My bunny recently went to the vets for an eye issue which turned out to be ec related and his eye looked nothing like your rabbits eye so hopefully it is just a trauma. I hope he gets better soon.

My blind baby Violet had this. It was an ulcer on cornea following a trauma injury of some sort. My vet explained that the red we can see is actually the blood vessels rushing to the surface to help the healing process.

Will this heal on its own then?
