Introducing Delilah-Rose (new Guinea-pig)

Jackaroonie

Mama Doe
As a result of losing Ruby suddenly and unexpectedly on the 1st of December 2014 , Poor Daisy was obviously left all on her lonesome and grieving for her
half sister :( So on Sunday the 7th of December , 6 days after we took Daisy along to Cottontails Rescue where she
chose her new friend. Daisy had a choice of two friends to chose from; she was put in a run with them both and decided that she preferred being around this one the most.
Her new friend is a little girl who is 2 years old (so a year younger than
Daisy) she is gorgeous, she is a pale lilac with ginger markings.
she was originally called Lily but as I have a rabbit called Lily - I renamed her Delilah-rose. Well actually my dad came up with the name Delilah and I added Rose to it because of her red eyes.

As the story goes; somebody had a massive herd of females (16) and as a result of a marriage breakdown and having to move house; they had to rehome 10 of the females. When Delilah first arrived here, she was very shy and it's taken a few weeks for her to come out of her shell and settle. But now she has been here nearly 6 weeks; her character is starting to shine! Here is the page on the rescue website: http://cottontails-rescue.org.uk/pair-females-arrive-soon/

These two photos were when she first got home!

Oh my...they are adorable together! Look at them enjoying that lovely lawn! :D
Delilah-Rose is beautiful! I found it interesting that her color is called "lilac and ginger". To me, lilac would connotate a greyish hue but unless she is pictured with Daisy it is not apparent that she doesn't have solid white undertones to her coat. When she's by herself the colors look lighter. Am I seeing that right or do I just need a cup of coffee (and maybe some better glasses)?
Either way, she is beautiful. :) My goodness that was a lot of piggies for them to take on at the rescue. I admit I really liked the pictures of Pigwig.

Great photos by you too! :thumb: That first one of Daisy with her mouth full of grass is priceless! And as I look back at the ones in their habitat I see she is enjoying her parsley too.

Awwww bless!! Piggies have such expressive faces

Thank you

To be honest I don't exactly know myself  Her colour looks different in photos all the time. I believe that the actual show type lilac guinea pigs have a stronger pigmentation of the colour so are darker. Delilah-Rose is quite a pale version of lilac I believe. Wonder if anyone else knows more about it?

Daisy was put in the run with Pigwig as well, she was absolutely lovely  We very nearly took them both home, however we didn't want to go out of our depth financially etc. I have some pictures of them actually in the bonding run at the rescue. You will have to excuse the quality, they were taken on my phone quickly and it was a sunny morning - I couldn't actually see what I was taking on the screen!

Here is Daisy deciding which piggy she would like as her new friend..

That's so cool that when bonding piggies you can pretty much just group them up and let them get on with it. :) Much different from bunnies.
That second picture...looks like the friendship was cemented right there. ;)
