  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Bunny isn't well :(

Young Bun
Taking my grey rex rabbit Lola to the vets tomorrow. Really hope she's ok :( she's really skinny and isn't eating or drinking much. Fingers crossed for tomorrow. Poor bun.

Oh dear  Was she in contact with the Rabbit who passed away a short time ago ?

Hope Lola will be OK. I would bring her indoors tonight if she is normally outside on her own. If she is ill she will struggle to maintain her body temperature which could lead to hypothermic shock

I've already brought her in just so I can keep an eye on her and see what she's eating. It's not the same as what was wrong with the rabbit that died as she is eating but just little. Hopefully the vets can sort her.

I would advise taking her to the vet tonight because, as you know, rabbits go downhill extremely quickly.

She needs her back teeth grinding down as they are sharp which I causing her not to eat. Glad we know what's wrong and is being sorted :)

She's had her dental and just got her home. As soon as we put her back in her cage she's started eating and drinking straight away. :D happy bunny I think x

That's good news :D

Did the Vet give you advice as to any dietary changes that may be necessary to try to prevent further Dental problems ?

They just said to feed her more hay, grass and straw. So hopefully she will put some weight on now :D cost a lot but she was worth it.
