  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Bittersweet cuddles

Dieselsmum

Warren Scout
Hi everyone,

Well, Diesel has been given the all clear from his gut stasis occurrence that started earlier this week. It's been a hard slog but he's finally turned the corner.

On a side note, I just wanted to say, and I feel awful for thinking it but when we visit the vets, a small part of me knows that it is the only time I get a quality cuddle from him and I kinda enjoy it. He hates being picked up but when we are at the vets, he voluntarily jumps into my arms and snuggles down.

I know it's because he is scared and I hate thinking it and I would never wish a vet trip on him just for cuddles.

Am I truly terrible!? #badowner :-(

No! You're not terrible... If he's finding comfort in you then you can enjoy that. I know I would.

Glad he's better x

No, the few times I've had mine to the vet Springfield does the same. It's quite nice to know that despite not being bothered for nose rubs anymore (rare now he has a girlfriend) he still needs a cuddle when he's scared or nervous from his bunny mummy 💚
