Eating only hay after GI stasis

Hi,

My rabbit was diagnosed by the vet as having GI stasis, we was told by her if he didn't poo within 12 hours to take him back, which fortunately he did. We have been syringe feeding him and giving him the medication prescribed by the vet and he has picked up a lot but he's still not his usual self. He has been eating by himself as we'll but only his hay. Which is worrying cause he usually loves his greens and pellets! I was wondering if this is normal while suffering from GI stasis? He is only drinking small amounts of water to but this is a big improvement on a couple of days ago.

Any thoughts or advice would be much appreciated as we have never experienced this before and we are really worried about him.

Thankyou

The eating hay only is quite normal (not done in every case but very often seen). He's selecting the food that's best for him. He will get back on the other food when he doesn't feel the need to eat loads of bland high fibre food.

I always take it as a really good sign as it should aid his recovery.

Thankyou for your reply. Its nice to know that this often happens. It's just such a worrying time and not knowing what to expect has been difficult.

Thanks again for the reply

eating hay is good at least he is getting something in him, how are his poo's? did the vet examine his teeth while you where there also? as this can contribute to being picky and GI statis
