Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

George has spurs :-(

CazandCo

Alpha Buck
For a bunny so eager for tea time to see him not eating much is so upsetting. He is going under tomorrow morning for them grounding down. Funny that they haven't been spotted on any of his previous health checks.

Any tips for administering the paste stuff with a syringe, it was a little bit messy :-/ ??

My lovely Mottle had a dental a few months after we got him. I put his meds into ellas kitchen organic baby food (the pure fruit versions) which he LOVED. His doe, Peaches was pretty impressed with her non medicated blob of it as well!

Good luck to George.

Mottle is a mini lop. It seems quite common for them to have dental problems sadly.

When Humphrey was waiting for his dental (and a few days afterwards!) I soaked some of his pellets in water. He ate them readily. :thumb:

Sending vibes for George. I think spurs can appear or reach the stage of causing trouble quite suddenly, so they might not have been visible at earlier health checks.

Thanks for your good luck vibes, fingers crossed he gets through the anaesthetic firstly... Will let you know how it goes tomorrow x

Well he is home, still extremely groggy and not interested in his food. Not even the yummy treats he loves. They have given me some more recovery powder which i am going to try him on. What else should i do to help make him feel more comfortable?
