Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

panacur oral paste question?

samijofood

Young Bun
normally my vet used to do this for me free of charge and id just pay for the paste, but my usual vet has retired so ive had to change vets and they charge for it.

my jed is due for his worming paste, ive got the panacur from pets at home read all the instructions and now im a little puzzled.

jed weighs 1.3kg and the instuctions says 1 graduation per 2.5kg daily for 9 days.

shall i give him half a standard graduation for 9 days? how can i work out what jed needs?

also is there any tips on getting him to take it?

normally the liquid is easier as it is more accurate. what are you worming him for? if its e.cuniculi treatment, the recommendation is a 28 day course, otherwise worming treatment isn't normally required for rabbits.

You give him one whole graduation for 9 days (worming) or 28 days (EC). For up to 2.5kg you give one graduation.

I used to put mine in between two basil leaves and bun would eat it without any issues :)

Good luck x

I worm him regular because I go away a few times a year and he goes to a boarding house for his holiday. Its the rules for this place. Jabs flea and wormed.

I was thinking about this myself... I'd say half a syringe a day for nine days for your buns weight. My boy hasn't been wormed yet, but I figured he'd get a 3rd of a syringe a day as he's a little boy. Do you have to get it off the vets at P@H or can you just buy it from P@H?? My vets is Companion Care (inside P@H) and I have 10% off worming as part of my "rabbit plan" I have with them (Companion Care).

Harvey is 1.25kg my very said give him half a graduation each day for 9 days. Not sure if he is a weirdo (bunny not vet!) but I had no problem getting him to take the stuff, in fact when he saw the syringe he would leap in my lap and try to take it away from me, so I guess it tastes nice? I just had to hold out the syringe and he'd lock it right of the end!

No. For all rabbits less than 2.5kg you give 1 whole graduation per day. If the rabbit weights between 2.5kg and 5kg you give 2 whole graduations per day.

It says "1 syringe graduation per 2.5kg bodyweight" so surely if the bun weighed half that, they'd get half a syringe a day?

No, you give whole graduations only, you can't measure out anything else. Panacur is a safe drug, you can't overdose on it.

Well hes had a full grad to be sure. Had a mare of a time getting him to have it. Ive tried fresh herbs and he wouldnt have it. So I wiped it on banana and he ate round it and wouldnt eat the rest. I managed to put it on a danilion leaf with the banana in the middle with corriander like a lil parcel and hes esten that. He didnt like it as he kept shaking his head and licking his nose. Lol im going to try getting a video tomorrow as it was so funny to watch.

I just got it off the shelf at P@H.

My bunnies have 1/2 a graduation which is what the vet advised. But they're both babies so that might change things a little?

Also, the way I have been administering it is straight from the tube into their mouths and they love it! The first few times I had to let them sniff/chew the tube a little and then squirted it in but now they actually look forward to having it. Very strange animals!
