Bunny eating hard droppings

Hi everyone, I noticed yesterday evening that my bun was eating his droppings - not cecals but the hard 'Nesquik' kind! I just saw him do it again today :(

Any idea why this might be? He has unlimited Ings hay all day, 1 egg cup full of pellets in the morning and then another late afternoon. He's just coming up to 3 months old now so I was thinking of introducing some greens into his diet this weekend.

Thanks guys :)

It's a slightly odd habit, particularly if he has hay. Is his hay near his litter tray in case he feel the urge to poop and eat - rabbits :lol:

Both times I have seen him do it have been when he's on the sofa with me. He hasn't yet learned to hop down from the sofa over to his hay/litter tray so that could well be why he's doing it! I'll start bringing him a box of hay when it's cuddle time

Maybe that's it, he's not quite sure how to get back to his tray. Maybe you could try a box next to the sofa so he can hop down in stages :)

I've seen a couple of mine do this over the last week or so. It's really odd! One of them was actually in his litter tray when he did it, but the other was in a different room - she did leave lots of other ones around on the carpet though so I don't think she was cleaning up after herself! Is there and other reason they might do it that anyone knows? (Sorry to hijack thread OP!)
