Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Damp bottom...

I'm a little bit worried and have booked a vets appointment for Saturday anyway but just wondering what you guys think...

I noticed that Albert's bottom wasn't entirely clean on Monday, so I got some damp cotton wool and gave him a bit of a wipe, I also cleaned his scent glands and cleaned out their litter tray. I checked yesterday and although he was dry, it was still slightly matted, today the same although he is a bit damp around his bottom...

Anyone got any ideas what this could be about? He's fine in himself, still eating, drinking, cleaning himself (although evidently not his rear end!), binkying, lying out as normal. Do you think it could be an age thing (he's a rescue rabbit so we're not entirely sure of his age but think he could be 7-8 years)???

Also, what should I be doing? I don't want him to get urine burns.

I'd just go to the vets get them to clean him up , clip his fur and put some sudocream on for abit. Then check teeth are okay and if there is any problems vets can investigate further. Everything with buns is always worth a vet run :) xx

Damp bottom makes me think of maggots Im afraid.I dont want to panic you.Have you had a really good look and theres no sign of the dreaded???
