Hi guys,
Needing a bit of advice about bonding, have previously posted in the bonding/behaviour section but got no response!
We have been trying to bond our rabbits (male and female, both neutered)for the last 5 weeks or so, it always goes the same way. They will be fine for a few hours (e.g. grooming, snuggling etc) then suddenly she will attack him and a fight will kick off with them both rolling around biting and kicking each other (which is horrible and really upsetting). Obviously we always seperate the fight straight away.
We have tried to use a water spray and spray them before it kicks off (usually when she starts biting his legs) which stops it for awhile but it will always kick off a bit little (no matter how closely we monitor them). We have tried neutral areas in our house and in other people's houses.
I spoke to a knowledgable person about it and she said that it might be because the girl (who is usually free range) is frustrated about being in a pen and is taking it out on him. She suggested that we put them in a larger area - but this contradicts everything we have read....
We just dont know what to do now, am considering sending them to a professional but just wondered what other people thought?
Or whether you have any hints or tips?
Any help much appreciated.
