The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Wet bottom- update

wickedbun

Young Bun
Hi,

Hoping you can help me with some advice.

Several times over the x-mas period I noticed that my bun had a wet bottom when I picked her up. Her tail fur seems to be a bit urine stained ATM- certainly wasn't at her last vet checkup just before x-mas.

I checked her again this morning and she was dry. I picked her up on X-mas night to find a wet bottom. I tried to dry it with paper toweling and she peed all over me. Peeing is her favorite way to express her displeasure with something. Is it possible she is just doing this on purpose or should I be worried about something more serious?

The bunny clinic re-opens tomorrow. Should I URGENTLY take her tomorrow morning or can it wait until next weekend? Don't want to annoy work if I can help it.

Thanks

For your info, she is desexed.

I would take her to the Vet straight away as she may have a urine infection, bladder sludge/stones or a neurological problem effecting her bladder control.

Good luck :)

Fantastic news.

I took my bun to the rabbit clinic this afternoon. They think the urine scalding was caused by diet.

Over the X-mas break the buns have been outside a LOT - eating the weeds in my garden. Theses are largely dandelions which are a diuretic- and known to cause problems

The buns have been inside the last 2 days and the symptoms have disappeared.

SOOOOO happy that it all seems to be so easily rectified. I am so lucky to have a specialist bunny clinic near me- and so glad that I found them.
:D

Now I just need to weed the garden...
