Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Hazelnut is a he/she?

BunnymadBunny

Young Bun
My rabbit went in for her spray.
I was told when I got the rabbit it was a boy.
But to me and my vet it looked like A girl.
Okey so she went in for the op - nothing there no girlie parts.
On closer inspction there was a small penis present nothing else.

So they are saying my rabbit is both a female and a male.

What?
Surely my bun is male? If no girlie bun bits and theres a male part present.

Is it possible my rabbit is neutered in a way the vet can't even tell?

Please advise me. Surely my bun can't be both sexes?

I would also question undescended testicles.

How old is the bunny? Breed? (I know those have already been asked).

Rabbit is a smallish bun, she is slightly bigger than my dutch.
Age wise she is a preloved.com bun - I was told a year so maybe 1-2 years old.

What can I do about this?

My vet charged me for a spray even though there was nothing taken out.

Three vets looked at her and all said shes not a girl or a boy.

As far as they are concerned she can't reproduce.

How can I find out if this is the problem? I don't want to loose my rabbit to cancer.

Im really worried. I thought today would be the end of the worry.

Have they noticed any deformities around her genitals? Did they have a look around inside?

Is it possible she has been previously spayed/neutered?

How is her behaviour? Does she exhibit hormonal behaviour?

I had to call my vet to say they the rabbits have all started eating and she is now saying my bunny is a neutered buck she thinks.
She admitted not knowing what a neutered boy looks like.

Can you guys help.
All that is visible is a penis according to the vet.
There are no tubes inside the rabbit to indicate a female.

Rabbit nips sometimes, thumps and grunts over food.
otherwise great to cuddle and generally pretty gentle.
never sprayed on anything.

Is possible because I took her from someone who had the bun dumped on them by a neighbour. So he knew nothing about the rabbit. But said it was male.
