  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

How much molting??

How much is too much molting???? He seems to be making minature fluff bunnies in the corners...
is this even the right time of year to molt? is he growing a winter coat or loosing fluff to get a summer coat?
im brushing him every other day and getting out a handful each time as well as the fluff hes distributing around the kitchen....
He seems well in himself...

If he's indoors then I don't think the normal seasons apply, they can moult any time. If he were outdoors then it would not be a good time of year to be moulting. As long as his coat and skin seems otherwise healthy and there are no bald patches then I wouldn't be concerned.

oh no, perfectly healthy... just lots and lots of little baby 'dust bunnies' in all the corners of my kitchen. I keep telling him he will look silly bald... but he doesn't listen. he'll get fur-balls at this rate.

Pipkin has awful moults. One day I brushed out a pile of fur that was the same size as him. I had a picture but it was on a phone that I lost :(
It's really quite unbelievable how much fur there can be...
He should be fine if he's indoors. :)
