  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

bunns passing disease...

BaileyBunn

Warren Scout
Hi, am planning on getting a rescue bunn for Bailey, just wondering if there is any diseases that can be passed between rabbits (other than mites+fleas),
Thanks any ideas much appreciated x:)

another q...how many people bother with the panacur, i use Xeno 450 spot on and have been told that covers all external and internal parasites so assumed it would do the job of panacur for half the price..thought it may be to good to be true though...

Most of us worm our bunnies either with Panacur or Lapizole. I have never heard of Xeno 450 used for worming. You can get Panacur or Lapizole from the Vet UK website (http://www.vetuk.co.uk/) much cheaper than you would from your vets.

Panacur is also sold in pets at home now, it's beside the cat and dog worming treatments in my local store. You have to ask for it as it's in a locked case and they ask you questions about how you're going to use it etc. It's about £6 which is more expensive than the vet site (£3.68) but you have to pay a £1.95 surcharge on orders under £15 so it's actually not that much cheaper unless you're buying a lot of it.
My vet wanted to charge me nearly £16 for it so I decided to shop around
