Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Runny caecotroph

Furry

Young Bun
Hello

One of my bunny is producing runny caecotroph poo.. which she will not injest. understanable.

After google it i know this is caused by her high sugar content diet and very little hay.

She's been ill for the last several months and been to all the vets in my area and no vet really want to help her anymore (due to her age and condition) and already spent near £1k, and nothing diagnosed. so can't really afford unless really absolute need it.

She hasnt really eaten anything on her own other than sweet things such as strawberries, pineapple and musli style food. i am also force feeding her.
Before her illness she was on excel pellets, hay and very limited fruits/veg. But since her illness she only craves for the sweet stuff and i know this is very bad for her. i have tried not to give her but she would not eat anything else. She is very thin so can't afford to starve. Not sure how long will she last at this rate but want to make her final months as happy and quality for her as possible.

Would some fibreplex help to form her caecotroph poo? or is there other food i can try to give her instead?

Thanks

Can you explain more about her illness?

Yes, Fibreplex is worth a try, as maybe something like the Bio-Lapis that is a probiotic you put in the water or on food. Not sure if those two could be used in cojunction with each other.

Will she eat things like fresh grass? dandelion leaves? Herbs?

Oh dear, she certainly needs to get her fibre up thats for sure. Can you give us a bit of info on her illness - does she have any other syptoms other than refusing to eat?

its a long story. A few months back, i took her to see vet because she is loosing alot of weight, almost at the point of anorexia. She had EC too. Vet did dental, put her on panacur, antiboitic etc, but i think after numerous trips to the vet, the stress accelarated her problem and she got so thin the vets refused to do anything more to her and suggested to me that i should put her to sleep.

Seeing that she is still fighthing in her eyes, i refused and took her home and nurse her, also took her elsewhere for second opinions. this was couple of months ago. this new vet said he wouldnt suggest me to put her to sleep yet as she have improved alot. he agree to do another dental and some x-rays but on the day of surgery he said she was actually eating alot at his clinic and didnt feel the need to do the dental and not worth the risk putting her under GA.

Since then she's back at home, on metacam each day. She would only eat some veg, sweet fruits and musli. she loved the dried dandelion flowers. i've tried all sorts of other foods and all types of hay but she just wont eat. sometimes only nibbled some. At the moment, apart from being a little thin and me feeding her at night, otherwise she is as normal as she used to be.

not sure what else i can do. could it be some behaviour problem, cause there are times when i am busy and had not feed her on time she will start nibbling on her pellets. same thing happened at the vet!

I got fibreplex and ProC Probiotic 100gm for Small Pets by Vetark at home.

which one is better to give her?
