  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

conjuctivitis recovery

Hi

Please make sure it is conjunctivitus with your vet, I was told this about one of my bunnies and he actually had teeth problems. There was no swelling, just runny eye.

Hopefully it will just be conjunctivitus.

I agree. My rabbit had a runny/infected eye that was caused by his teeth. get them checked.

eye problems

Hi, how long does it take antibiotics to start working for conjuctivis and for the swelling to start going down, thanks kerry
sorry to hear your bunny has a medical issue/-don,t know anything except/a visit to the vet,and swollen eyes,///,what kind of exam was done, for conjunctivitus,,visual/hands on??-any radiograghs(x-rays)-what type of med was prescribed??//--this given the vet has you at a-great disadvantage,,you can hope the vet knows what they are doing--doesnot sound like a proper exam,./.results of the antibiotic in question might take a week or so,to show a turn around,-by that time the infection can manifest into an emergency,,sorry i cannot be more helpful,,be watchful of the rabbits behavior/get a second opinion...sincerely james waller
