  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Question for dental buns

My Penny Pocket had her first dental for some spurs that had developed. The vet told me to return in about five weeks time. Well now it's about six weeks since she had it done and she seems absolutely fine. I don't really want to take her and stress her out again.

Should I take her to get them checked anyway?

Personally I would, especially if that is what my Vet recommended

yup! It's always better to make sure that the teeth are ok before they start causing problems. He will be able to tell you then roughly how long to expect between dentals based on how much the spurs have grown.

I would take her, just to be on the safe side. :) It's been about 3 1/2 mth since Bubbles had her first dental but she's had two checks since then, just to monitor how her teeth are doing.

Yes, please take her. My bunny has regular dentals and it's not always obvious to me that he needs them, ie. seems fine/is eating, so better to be safe than sorry.
