Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Yesterday morning my rabbit was fine running about the house eating normal with in a few hours, was laying on his side breathing fast with water surrounding his mouth. I rushed him to the vet and was given loads of checks and i got told to transfer him to another surgery 40 miles away on the way there he started screaming had a fit and died so suddenly. It all happened so quick and he was only ten months old with a healthy heart lungs and no signs on the blood the vets took. i wonder if anyone has experianced this before it was a horrible death and has put me off having another rabbit i have never been so upset over a pet before

I can't imagine it :( Sorry to hear you lost him, poor bun.

The only way you can know for sure why he died is to have a post mortem done on him, we can only suggest what might have happened.

I am so sorry for your loss. It might be worth it to have the post mortem done to find out what happened and possibly put your mind at ease for any new bun that might enter your life. My heart goes out to you.

Hi

I just want to say I am so sorry.

My rabbit Lars died a few months ago. He was fine, eating ok etc but went out to his hutch one morning he was on his side. We had to leave him at the vet and he died about half an hour later. It was like he had a seizure or something.

To say I was devasted is an understatement. I have NEVER been so upset over any of my pets' deaths as I was his - he was so young and small and vulnerable.

I felt I could have done more for him but not sure what... I miss him terribly so I can understand a little where you are coming from xx

Take care - may your bun rest in peace with my Lars xx
