Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Very Gurgly Tummy

Mad Bunster

Mama Doe
Nibbler has refused his supper and is flattening his belly, so I've given him two doses of Infacol and tummy rubs. But when i'm rubbing, theres a pocket of gas that just won't go - everytime i rub that area it gurgles like mad.

How long / how much Infacol before its a vet trip? Its been 2 hours since he started so far but he had his tea at 9pm which he ate fine and no there were no new foods.

How Is Nibbler this morning? My friends bun has just been through this he was in the vets for four days.

Hiya
He started eating again at 2am but his tum still feels gassy, so i'll take him to the vets this morning. He had the same on Sunday evening although he improved after just 1 tummy rub - so theres obviously something going on here.

Is the meds routine for gas the same as in stasis cases?

Nibs has had a clean bill of health from vet... no gas was evident when she examined him, so have to just keep an eye on him - and maybe pre-emptive tummy rubs/ infacol.

He is moulting like crazy though, so he's probably a bit sluggish with fur, but it came on so suddenly.

Might get some Fibreplex in to give him... good idea.

Hes not had anything different at all - except a tiny bite of apple on Sunday which is what I put Sundays episode down to - but nothing new in last 2 days. All other buns are fine too.

The vet was showing how to groom him - and went to demonstrate.... I told her combs don't work on Nibs and she saw for herself! Somehow no comb takes his loose fur off - it has to be plucked out!
